Using the launch of the brand new 2 wheel self balancing electric scooter, 2015 has become an exilerating year for gadget fans. All over the world, people are taking to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to post pics and vids of themselves zipping around for this 2 wheel contraption which basically appears like a board using a wheel on either side.
A cross between a skateboard plus a segway, this mini Segway (minus the handle) type thing is bolstering in popularity, fuelled partly by the quantity of celebrities that have been seen on a single. From Attacking young boys to Soulja Boy, Kendall Jenner to Jamie Foxx, all have tried their hand only at that nifty little gadget, and appear to get had a large amount of fun this.
Nicknamed the ‘swegway’ (as a result of it’s likeness for the Segway, but a ‘cooler’ version) we’re not sure entirely where this particular self balancing scooters originated in or who invented the 1st. Almost certainly it originated in some factory in China. The first glimpses we saw of it in media were a product or service referred to as the IO Hawk, a scooter that sells for an astonishing $1800. This was back in January of 2015. Ever since then many cheaper versions of the same product have fallen out there and the average price right now looks like it’s around $500.
How can it work? Basically you climb onto both panels and shift the body weight slightly forward or slightly back and it senses this bodyweight change and moves backwards or forwards. Additionally, it may turn right or left. This self balancing scooters is proving to be so popular that it is being touted because personal mobility device of the future. Who wants to walk when you are able glide, right? Plus it is a lot faster than walking, travelling at speeds of 6mph to 10mph.
