The Poly Macau Art Auction has been held again until today in the Regency Art Hotel. The categories include Chinese and Asian Modern and Contemporary Art, Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Chinese Ceramics and Artwork as well as Jewels and Prestige Collections.
Masterpieces of Chinese modern art maestros is going to be displayed to represent the most important developments of Chinese contemporary art history, including Wu Guangzhong’s “Snowscape in Beijing”, which is estimated for sale at HKD14 million approximately HKD28 million.

Sabrina Ho, director of Poly Macau and Casino tycoon daughter and Angela Leong, said that the big event is co-organized by Poly Macau and Chiu Yeng Culture. “I hope that a series of cultural events [organized with the two companies] brings to Macau new aspects that will allow to carry on the diversification with the economy,” said Ho, who also expects that artists and art collectors worldwide continually support Macau just as one art platform.
“We continually bring Macau more diversified cultural activities, and [will support] Macau to create itself like a global art platform,” said Ho and “hopefully that Macau can be a well- known art capital in the foreseeable future.”
Regency Hotel opened in 1983 and possesses suffered with past business closures. Ho, however, hopes to transform it into an art form hotel. “In Macau, there may be many resplendent big hotels, however the variety of hotels which can be utilized for art as well as some creational events is, in reality, less than great,” said Ho.
