Everyday Theology

Whenever the saying “Theology” is mentioned, images of the seminary, thick theological books, Greek and Hebrew terms, and other highfalutin expressions tummy flatness, although around one’s mind. It appears as if “Theology” is reserved for the “holy ones”, the “chosen ones”, as well as the intellectuals. If you’re knowledgeable about the writings of Karl Barth, Martin Luther, Augustine, and the likes, you are near to inner near the group of friends of biblical scholars.

A lot more if you can speak their language and it is able to produce an academically accepted theological work. I’ve been trainees of an Bible School and Theological seminary. Both institutions have solved the problem to possess deeper insight to Church History, Systematic Theology and Biblical backgrounds. Yet even midst the lessons and classroom discussions, questions still roam in my mind. Are typical these true? Please do not misunderstand me. I am a firm believer how the Bible is the sole authority over life. I have faith that the Bible may be the Word of God. When you are a typical mortal, I’m caught between the realm of reality and faith, and bridging the gap derived from one of to the other is a reasonably mental and spiritual feat. Yet, I really believe, too that God’s Spirit and style is a try to teach us beyond exactly what the mind are unable to comprehend.

Theology means study regarding God, in the Greek word “Theos” (God) and “logos” (study of). Determined by such, does is imply that Theology be learned? Can God be grasped through the human mind? Can God be described simply by words? If someone has a doctorate degree in Theology, would that mean that, the pharmacist has already a strong grasped of God Himself?

I have met professors of assorted degrees, and that i have met simple folks with simple thoughts. Yet, comparing on how they view God and express who God is to them, the first sort (most, and not all) might have a mouthful of jargon of expressions from the books… a Greek word there… a Hebrew term there… leaving their listeners at decrease in space. Conversely, the second, the straightforward ones, would discuss about it practical things they have experienced of God’s character. If for the children God is great, chances are they testify of how God provides on their behalf or has provided them positive things.

From whom would I listen more, for the academician in order to one that has got the practical experience? It is a common praoclaiming that “Experience is the foremost teacher.” Theory would only remain a theory unless it can be proven true by experiments or by real experience. In creationism , Theology would simply be mere idea of God, unless you’ve a real experience of that truth about God.

God is definitely real, but unless that reality transcends the mind and it is proficient in everyday situations, the conviction for these truth would never go deep in the center and soul, and neither he or she could convince others to imagine in such truth.
