About Khasab, Musandam
Khasab, the capital of the Musandam peninsula, is located 500 kilometers from Muscat and is dubbed the “Norway of Arabia”. Mighty jebels (mountains) rise within this unique and rugged locale. Apart from safari holiday packages that lies over the waters, Musandam even offers an abundant and vibrant underwater world, teeming with varied marine life, providing spectacular snorkeling, Khasab Musandam Oman Diving and Khasab Musandam Oman fishing.
The breath-taking great thing about the mountains, the unspoilt beaches and steep wadis (dry river beds) are aplenty around Khasab. Majestic fjords, dotted with islands and the crystal clear waters shimmering in the sun together with historic Khasab Fort, Telegraph Island and a great number of underwater adventures alllow for a really memorable holiday.
The simplest way to go through the idyllic attractiveness of Musandam is by a sea trip over a traditional wooden dhow. Many varieties of sea birds roam and nest round the cliffs at Khawr Ghubb Ali and dolphins can be sighted near Jebel Harim, the greatest peak in Musandam. Khasab also offers a number of markets and shops with goods from nearby Iran and locally-made pottery.
