When Robyn Jones really wants to relax, she strolls down the unspoiled mountainside of her Colorado home to visit her horse, Winddancer, the idea on her company name and logo. There, she could also comprehend the abundance of wildlife within the adjacent National Forest including mountain lions, bear, elk, chipmunks, and antelope, all of which further inspire her designs. Winddancer designs are inspired by Robyn’s extensive travels through the entire United states of america, Australia, Europe, and Asia. An avid photographer and quilter for upwards of two decades, Robyn mixes her photography, art, and quilting skills in designs for travel quilts that currently range from the United States State Quilt Series, the Australia State Quilt Series, the Right here Wildlife Series, and the Military Series honoring our U.S. service women and men.
Every Winddancer state quilt design is planned to display aspects of specific states while mixing architecture, floral, wildlife, and history into a cohesive quilt picture. Since neighboring states share many features, landscapes, and sporting activities, blocks may be interchanged to personalize your quilt with your own personal experiences.
Robyn works closely with her Australian artist husband, Kevin, and each design is sucked from true to life experiences or photographs of her travels. The finished designs are generated into a computer template which is broken into layers bobs for quilting, then many versions are supposed to find a very good coloring for that final quilt. Importantly, each quilt design has to be planned employing a common palette of colors. This enables blocks being interchanged with other state and country designs, so quilters can make their own “Travel Quilt” or “Where I’ve Lived Quilt.”Winddancer Creations quilts are designed with simplicity at heart to ensure that entire families can enjoy developing a special quilt. Their state designs bring an eye on a family’s travel experience and a few blocks, as an example the Wild Mustangs block from your Utah State Quilt design, can be created by children as early as 10-14.With Winddancer designs, color and layering are employed extensively to create detail. Patterns off their designers are often far more complex and require advanced techniques or many years of quilting experience.
