State Bank of India, country’s largest public sector lender, has had in a number of new rules for its customers. The lender is becoming world’s 45thlargest lender after merger with five sister banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank.

SBI’s new norms relate to minimum balance requirement in savings accounts, amended service charges, cool product tax rates, renewed locker fees, charges for availing new cheque books and much more, according to Zee News.

Most prominent among these changed rules are based on customers who hold savings accounts at metro, urban, semi-urban and rural branches. The financial institution has created mandatory maintenance of minimum balance over these accounts from April 1.

This is a primer about what the changed rules entail SBI visitors to do.

1) From April 1, all SBI savings bank account holders will probably be needed to maintain stipulated minimum balance in their accounts. The bank has categorised its customers under metro, urban, semi-urban and rural brackets.

2) The very least balance dependence on Rs 5,000 has been fixed to have an account holder at a branch inside a metro city. Similarly, account holders in urban, semi-urban and rural SBI bank branches have to maintain Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively.

3) SBI in addition has formulated new rules for money transactions particularly at its automated teller machine booths. Under new rules, an SBI debit card holder will probably be allowed five free transactions at its ATMs. Besides, you will have a cost of Rs 20 to get a fourth transaction for debit card holders of other banks.

The bank begins charging Rs 50 after the first three cash deposits with the month. This limit is prescribed to save accounts.
For current customers the cash transaction charges can be as high as Rs 20,000

In towns like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru there will be a cost of Rs 100 plus service tax, in the event the balance goes below 75 % with the minimum average balance.
If the account holder is falling in short supply of 50 % or less of the MAB.

Cash withdrawal from ATMs is going to be charged following your first three transaction for other banks and first five transactions from SBI ATMs.
The account holder is going to be charged Rs 20 following the three transactions using their company bank ATMs and will also be charged Rs 10 for withdrawals from SBI ATMs.
There won’t be any charge on withdrawals from SBI ATMs when the account holder keeps a minimum balance of Rs 25,000

Rs 15 will probably be charged for SMS alerts per quarter from debit card holders who have the ability to maintain average quarterly balance as high as Rs 25,000 during the 3 months period.
There won’t be any charge for UPI/ USSD transactions up to Rs 1000.
