Regional bursary prize named following your Victorian newspaper group publisher George PR Pulman continues to offer sponsorship to great causes.
Many West Country communities understand the name George Pulman well. He’s considered something of your Victorian media mogul who founded Pulman’s Weekly News way back in 1857.
His media brands always been a prolific news source more than 150 year during the entire prime agricultural counties of Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
Pulman’s news was always renowned due to the reliability and trustworthiness. That which was published by Pulman’s journalists could possibly be regarded as being true.
What people may not know is the fact that George Pulman has also been a lifelong committed Christian who worshipped regularly at his local town church in Axminster, Devon.
To help rouse local attendance, George would enthusiastically have fun playing the church organ on the Sunday morning. There he went on the meet and marry his young wife, who was simply likewise interested in turned into a regular part of exactly the same Axminster congregation.

Most recently the Pulman’s Award has helped fund the publication of an series of skills training workbooks and specially tailored courses meant to help ex-offenders find work and rebuild purposeful lives back inside community.
Countless leaflets and booklets have been distributed over the West Country to help enlighten young people concerning the hazards of drugs and addiction.
Publishing, in most its great shape, continues to be as relevant nowadays in mere exactly as it turned out when George Pulman was alive.
